STARSCAPE

THE ORACLE OF DESTINY

Where should this story start? Well probably to get the characters together… How should that happen? Well maybe the Oracle of Destiny gets them together; Felinara? Maybe…

Perhaps this whole thing starts out with the PCs (Player Characters) witnessing a huge space battle.  Each of them were woken up after having a vision form the Oracle of Destiny, regardless of their race or national affiliation.

Each of them witnessed in this vision, a darkness spreading over the universe… their own respective worlds.

“The Sands of Time have run out… <<insert character name or title here>>”

“The Call of War pierces the Void”

“The Remnants of the past scar the Stars”

“Which is once again, besieged by Conflict.”

“As Mortal Fleets engage blindly to their destruction.”

“The coming darkness comes to consume us all…”

“Heroes must rise, and challenge fate.”

“Come find me…”

The PCs wake up after this. They find that the vessels they are on have been caught into a massive battle.

A Civilian Convoy, carrying Terran Rebel refugees by IAC (Interstellar Alliance Commonwealth) sympathizers got ambushed by APR (Alpha Prime Republic) Space Force Fleet at the same time a fleet from the Halite Empire decided to raid the vulnerable fleet.

A bloody battle ensues, causing thousands of people to lose their lives in the cross fire. The PC’s could actually be from any of these factions. The battle goes badly for all involved and the PC’s will all have different perspectives of the battle as they escape from it. They will all land on a planet and be the only of a few survivors of the battle.

To break the factions down and give a bit of history to not confuse anyone that is not me reading this… 4 major factions were involved in this battle.

The Halite Empire

The Interstellar Alliance Commonwealth

The Alpha Prime Republic

The Terran Rebels.

The Halite Empire has always been an aggressive nation; however the others use to all be at peace with one another until recently.

The APR used to ally themselves with the IAC. Together they formed a safe haven for neutral races to protect themselves from the more aggressive races out there like the Halite Empire.

However, there has been a change in leadership in the Alpha Prime Republic. Supreme Commander Paul Scott of the Alpha Prime Space Force plotted and succeeded in a secret military coup of the Alpha Prime Government, taking control of it. Many did not like this change in leadership, and many more didn’t like the way things were ran after it took place, so a new Terran faction was formed that rebelled against this new leadership.

Things did not go well and for the most part, all overt Separatists have gone on the run from the APR. Thankfully, members of the IAC were willing to lend aid. However, this did not go unnoticed by the APR and they sought out to punish sympathizers to the Separatists in the IAC. Officially IAC was neutral, but those rogue groups that weren’t were officially disavowed.

APR had become a powerful nation in galactic affairs. Most of the other alien nations have backed off.

However, there are two notable influential powers still out there. The Halite Empire, and the Nychus Federation. Both haven’t been terribly friendly towards each other to begin with. Now things are catalyzing towards a full scale galactic war.

The Battle that the PC’s were apart of was only the latest example on how bad things were getting. However, the PC’s all received the same vision, and they all ended up on the same planet together.

Terran designation of Terra Edon, is not a terribly hospitable planet. Barren and cold, out in the fringes of the Galaxy.

First order of business is to survive the wilderness until some kind of help arrives… whatever that may be.

The PC’s may encounter some local wildlife.

In the middle of the night, they are greeted by some of planet’s colonists. They aren’t too friendly either, but they do provide vehicles for the PC to use to get to a settlement with a star port.

The settlements of Terra Edon are all less than reputable. While populated by mostly humans, they long ago decided they were not going to be part of the Alpha Prime Government, nor almost any other. This place is now home to a whole bunch of shady people of all races… including races that wouldn’t fit in, even in an IAC hub station. The PC’s may have an interesting time trying to get off this planet… or they make friends… who knows…

<<NPC Potential!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>>

Should the PC’s choose to find this Oracle that appeared in their dreams, they must first figure out where to go to find her. The only clue they had were the images from the vision-dream. When the Woman in the dreams said, “Come find me…” there was a distinct and unique Spire in the back ground behind her.

Let’s see… the planet could be a planet that was consumed by the darkness the last time it had spread… whatever this darkness is… what is this darkness?

The Force of Nature: VoidStar(?)

Personal Antagonist: James Eternity

History: James was the savior of People Eve. He was the Xell Blazer. He had in possession of the Xell Tridiamond and was its chosen guardian. However, he lost his soul after sacrificing it to seal the great Demon King, Lukimea into the abyss of the ShadowRealm.

After this soul sacrifice, James was never the same. His perspective of good and evil skewed. This soon put him at odds with his former ally’s. One of which was Skyrin the newly titled Hell-Blazer.

The Hell Blazer killed James. To prevent his power (or evil) from being obtained by the wrong hands, the Hell Blazer spread and hid the pieces of James’ body around the world so no one could find them.

The Hell Blazer died soon after, and disappeared from history. However, the Legend of James did not. Hundreds of years later, an adventurer named Temmink would find the pieces of James to obtain his power to save the world.

Instead, an alien who called himself MoleStar stole the Tridiamond within James for world domination. His new found powers were short lived, as the bond between James and the power of Xell allowed James to reassert himself in MoleStar, killing the tyrant. However, James was still without a soul and a vital piece of the Tridiamond. James was not an immediate threat, however and was allowed to disappear into history once again.

Another set of hundreds of years had passed. James found that he was missing a vital piece of the power of Xell and wasn’t able to fully harness its power. He was however able to access MoleStar’s memories and technology.

He went searching the void for answers. Eventually, he came across MoleStar’s most feared creation; VoidStar.

VoidStar was an artificially created god, for all intents and purposes. When dormant, Voidstar was motionless and lost in the Void of Space. When Activated, Voidstar would seek out various forms of matter to consume its energy and convert it to dark energy. Its appetite would extend to whole planetary bodies… meaning it eats planets.

MoleStar was smart enough to not use VoidStar (but only after he created it), because its activation would mean the end of the universe much sooner than expected. It would accelerate the catalyzation of an eventual Universal Big Freeze exponentially. MoleStar ended up using the underlying technology within himself and streamlined it where it would not be used on such a massive scale and not threaten the existence of the very universe he lived in.

James on the other hand has a very warped sense of Morality, and is fine with the possibility of the universe ending, as it would purge the evil from the universe. So he seeks the revitalization of VoidStar. He becomes its harbinger.

Anyways… brining this to now…

The Spire that the PCs would be looking for takes them to the planetoid, Yocto. When approaching this planet, the PC’s will notice that a large chunk of it is destroyed. The Debris on the destroyed portions of the planetoid gives off some kind of strange energy. Characters with telepathic or psionic powers will get feedback from the planet itself and their powers won’t work right if at all.

Here on Yocto, the PC’s will finally meet the Oracle of Destiny face to face. To most, she looks like Death himself, complete with reaper scythe. It is in fact the cloak Felinara is wearing that makes most living beings afraid of her and make her appear to be death. PC’s may not know that though.

Felinara brought the PCs together here on Yocto to show them a fraction of the devastation that is to come. Whatever destroyed Yocto eons ago is back. How does she know? Well whatever destroyed Yocto all that time ago used to be where the missing portions of the planet were. It moved. Someone moved it. Regardless of how it was moved… this = bad.

Voidstar is coming.

Why the PCs?

Where does the PC even start with something like this?

Felinara senses that there is a touch of destiny about them. Each of them is capable of being greater than the sum of their parts. They can be heroes. They just have to believe.

As for where, there seems to be a connection to the strange energy left behind on Yocto and Psionic/telepathic/mind powers. Perhaps there is something to be learned from it and maybe it is a weakness that can be exploited.

Felinara leaves the PCs with the intent on collecting information and/or getting help from a different avenue. She leaves the PCs with a direction to go in.

Where do the PCs go from here?

Well… there is a lead on the weird psionic energy left over by Voidstar on the planet.

There is also the fact that there is no sizable force to combat this coming threat. All the major powers are at war with each other or at the very least unstable relations. VoidStar is a force of nature and no small means will bring it down. They will need to form some kind of fleet to combat this threat. At the very least get anything done.

Even then, from what they are being told, VoidStar is an artificially created deity. A fleet of any size may not be enough to repel it. So what else can?

Lookup the history of Yocto and its civilization? ß Best Lead.

Looking into the ruins of the civilization of Yocto, the PC’s will determine that the inhabitants of Yocto were a race of Psionics and Telekineticists. The Planetoid Yocto used to actually be a planet in a solar system with a stable orbit. Apparently the encounter with “The Great Machine God” altered its orbit and the Planet slowly started drifting away from its star. The Planet Eater stopped eating the planet, but the damage had already been done. The new influx of energy emanating from the Planet Eater and the debris it left behind shorted out the Yoctans Psionic abilities so they were not able to save themselves from extinctions. They were only able to record their data in hopes someone else could learn from their demise.

Where to next?

At Some point, the main story antagonist needs to show himself as well as the PC’s personal antagonists… most likely a faction of the war that doesn’t like them.

Maybe if the PCs pursue the psionic route, they will bump into James and his forces.

Or if the PCs pursue the military support, they will bump into their faction adversary.

Psionics…

Well, the race known for the most potent level of Psionics is the Nychus… however they are aggressively xenophobic. One does not simply fly into Nychus space.

The Alpha Prime Republic Space Force has experimented with Terran genetic augmentation, including psionics. However their drawback is they are getting totalitarian-istic. Depending on the PC’s national affiliation, they may consider this as an option.

The Terran Rebels may be a viable option, again depending on the PC’s national affiliation.

The IAC on paper is the safest route, as they are officially neutral and have wide spread influence. However they have been getting pressure from the Alpha Prime Republic to be something other than neutral.
