Sword of the Brotherhood Ragnarök

The Intro:

Arbordale: A modest City located in Simya at the foothills of the Selatan Mountains. Named for both its plethora of rich gardens and various Machine-smith sites. Like so many other towns in Simya, it is home to a variety of alchemists and tinkerers.

Arbordale sits on the Greater Daksina River, and so it is also a major trade port. However it is also remote enough to be largely isolated from the events of the past few years.

It all started 6 years ago. The Once peaceful known world of Natuna abruptly fell into chaos as War broke out all over. Chelton and Azzemour fell back into old hatreds over territory. The United Common Kingdoms of Greater Tanamura, Estrada and Penchura all went into Civil war. It seemed like almost all bonds of fellowship and brotherhood were torn down in a single night.

For 3 years, This chaotic war took its toll. That was, until winter came. Not only was it the coldest winter in recorded history... one that stretched as far south as the Penchurian desert... but it was a winter that never ceased.

It seemed like the rays of the sun no longer provided warmth. This Winter didn't end the Chaos Wars, it only subdued it. It became a lot harder to travel, as well as keep supplies up for the war efforts with the weather as it was. So the bitterness between nations and brethren were still there, just kept in check by the harsh winter.

It had been 3 years since the start of The Great Winter. For the most part, things have calmed down. Again, Arbordale was never on the front lines of any of these wars. However, it did become an unofficial refugee center for a time. Orphaned children have been rumored to run the street's petty crime.

With the Wizards College in Naradyle being the epicenter for the magical side of the war, Arbordale had formed its own small gathering of Wizards and Sorcerers that were displaced from the war and subsequent Winter. The community has done what it can to keep the various arboretums from dying out from the harsh bitter temperatures.

They have formed a symbiotic relationship to keep the City from spiraling into utter ruin.

This day seemed like any other day. Fancy was visiting his brother Smug in Gustav Gosta-son's tower. Gustav was Smug's mentor and teacher.  Smug was being taught the ways of the Illusionist School of Arcane Magic.

Fancy and Smug were enjoying a meal that Gustav prepared in the dining room. Unfortunately, Before he left, Gustav had put up magical protections around his home to prevent anyone like fancy from stealing anything valuable.

Before the little Duan could get to their 13th course however, they hear screams outside in the streets.

Outside, you notice people running in one direction, apparently away from something. As you investigate, a surprising scene unfolds before you.

This creature looks like a living, mobile bonfire, tongues of flame reaching out in search of things to burn.  Surrounding it were creatures with bulbous eyes glaring atop their decidedly toad-like heads. Each of them had a multitude of warts and bumps decorating their greenish skin.

[Street encounter with Boggarts and Large Fire Elemental]

[During Said Encouter: PC's get exposed to *Special* Pollen from Yggdrasil]

Pollen everywhere, falling like snow. Going through everything without interacting with it.

The PC's now see a massively huge Colossal tree off into the horizon. Impossibly huge. No one else seems to see it. PC's are drawn to it.

The Tree trunk seems to be in Estrada somewhere. The PC's get led to behind Goro, the Capital City of Estrada up in the mountains.

There they will come across some Dark Fey. They will hear them in time to stealth.

"Damn, that was a long climb."

"Quit complaining, we got Brisingamen. And we didn't get caught."

"We should keep moving" a female speaks.

"Aw, c'mon, cant we rest up just for a bit?" One of the males spoke.

"If you're not tired, I can think of something else we could be doing." One of the males brazenly spoke to the female. The Female gave him but a blank stare, and the male immediately recoiled. "I'm just kidding heh heh... please don't kill me."

The female casually turned her gaze away, the male collapsed like he just had a close call. "Oh thank goddess."

At this point it seems like one of the males, silent up until this point, notices the PC's.

He makes a gesture in some form of sign language. The rest of these dark skinned Elves immediately stand at the ready with weapons drawn.

The female speaks, "Kill them."

Just then a blinding beam of multi colored energy from the sky blasts into the ground before them.
